Circles represent so much in the man-made, spiritual and natural world.
I've been experimenting with my watercolour and gouache circles. I really enjoy blending the colours together and letting the paints blend and mix themselves. It reminds me of the silk painting I produced back in the day.
After painting the circles I brainstormed how I could use and build upon them in my artwork. Firstly the circles became turtles then jelly fish, next flowers and then a peacock. I tried frogs but wasn't happy with them.
My watercolour circles prompt me to paint subject matters I wouldn't usually think of attempting. You end up in an unexpected place when you take a different approach to starting a piece of work.
I will keep refining and see what direction my exploration of circles takes me, besides round and round!
